Dodgin’ The Draft
First you tell your draft board you’re hooked on dope
You don’t need the army ’cause you’ve seen Bob Hope
Walk around the floor kinda nice and loose
Tell ’em your fiancee’s name is Bruce
When they ask about your schooling, then you say
That you studied under Cassius Clay
Then put some lipstick on when you’re photographed
And that’s what I call dodging the draft!
Then you show the captain a note from mom
Stand there while he reads it and suck your thumb
When he takes your family history, state with pride
“Benedict Arnold was on my father’s side.”
He’ll hand you an IQ test, just look at it with gloom
Then fold it like an airplane and sail it ’cross the room
If they believe you don’t know your fore from your aft
That’s what I call… shirking your military responsibility
Clump around the floor like your feet are flat
When they ask about your hearing, just say, “How’s that?”
If the sergeant wants a cigarette, treat him right
Set fire to your draft card, and offer him a light
When you see the eye-chart, don’t worry at all
Say, “I’ll be glad to read it, just point me at the wall.”
And if the draft board acts in the usual way
You’ll be what I call 1-A

Ballin’ The Jack
Folks in Georgia’s ’bout to go insane
Since that new dance down in Georgia came,
I’m the only person who’s to blame
I’m the party introduced it there, so!
Give me credit to know a thing or two
Give me credit for springing something new
I will show this little dance to you
When I do you’ll say that it’s a bear.
First you put your two knees close up tight,
Then you sway ’em to the left, then you sway ’em to the right,
Step around the floor kind of nice and light,
Then you twis’ around and twis’ around with all your might,
Stretch your lovin’ arms straight out in space
Then you do the Eagle Rock with style and grace
Swing your foot way ’round then bring it back,
Now that’s what I call “Ballin’ the Jack,”
First you put your two knees close up tight,
Then you sway ’em to the left, then you sway ’em to the right,
Step around the floor kind of nice and light,
Then you twis’ around and twis’ around with all your might,
Stretch your lovin’ arms straight out in space
Then you do the Eagle Rock with style and grace
Swing your foot way ’round then bring it back,
Now that’s what I call “Ballin’ the Jack,”
It’s being done at all the Cabarets,
All society now has got the craze,
It’s the best dance done in modern days
That is why I rave about it so,
Play some good Rag, that will make you prance
Old folks young folks all try to do the dance,
Join right in now whole you got the chance
Once again the steps to you I’ll show.

(Everybody’s Doing It Now)」(http://yogaku-manyoshu.blog.jp/archives/18039819.html)の歌詞から。

That Precious Little Thing Called Love
’Round as a biscuit, busy as a bee
Prettiest thing you ever did see
That’s the riddle old John Biddle
Told Miss Dinah Lee
Dinah said that’s easy,
Tell me one I haven’t heard,
John said Here’s wrote myself
Just listen it’s a bird.
Father and Mother like it,
Sister and brother like it
Uncle Joe and old Aunt Jane,
I know you like it, and you know I like it
It’s a grand old game
Your Nephew Ephraham
And my Cousin Susianne
Even to the Cooin’ dove
Just crazy ’bout that wonderful thing,
That beautiful thing, that sweet little thing,
That precious little thing called love.
Father and Mother like it,
Sister and brother like it
Uncle Joe and old Aunt Jane,
I know you like it, and you know I like it
It’s a grand old game
Your Nephew Ephraham
And my Cousin Susianne
Even to the Cooin’ dove
Just crazy ’bout that wonderful thing,
That beautiful thing, that sweet little thing,
That precious little thing called love.
This little riddle, Johnnie Biddle wrote
All around town it soon did float
This same riddle told by Biddle
Got Miss Dinah’s goat.
Dinah said to Johnnie
I will learn it right away
So when them parties whom I love
Come ’round to him I’ll say.
Father and Mother like it,
Sister and brother like it
Uncle Joe and old Aunt Jane,
I know you like it, and you know I like it
It’s a grand old game
Your Nephew Ephraham
And my Cousin Susianne
Even to the Cooin’ dove
Just crazy ’bout that wonderful thing,
That beautiful thing, that sweet little thing,
That precious little thing called love.
Father and Mother like it,
Sister and brother like it
Uncle Joe and old Aunt Jane,
I know you like it, and you know I like it
It’s a grand old game
Your Nephew Ephraham
And my Cousin Susianne
Even to the Cooin’ dove
Just crazy ’bout that wonderful thing,
That beautiful thing, that sweet little thing,
That precious little thing called love.

If He Comes In I’m Going Out
Old Aunt Nance
Held a big seance
At her home each week or so,
With ghosts she’d talk,
And make folks walk,
Who’d died long year ago.
Now Rufus Brown
Had dropp’d around,
to have his fortune read;
Said Nance to Rufe,
“To learn the truth,
I’ll bring your uncle from the dead.
Sh! sh! he’s coming now,
We’ll turn the lights down low.”
Rufe said, “Perhaps you know a lot,
Here’s one thing you don’t know.”
If he comes in,
I’m going out, I’m going out,
It may be the window, and it may be the door,
But I’m going out, and what is more,
If he comes in, no matter when it be;
If the door is blocked,
That hole in the lock
Will be plenty big enough for me.
If he comes in,
I’m going out, I’m going out,
It may be the window, and it may be the door,
But I’m going out, and what is more,
If he comes in, no matter when it be;
If the door is blocked,
That hole in the lock
Will be plenty big enough for me.
Rufe one night
Called to see Miss White;
As he sat and held her hand,
“I hate,” she said,
“A man that’s ’fraid,
A hero I think’s grand!
Just s’pose for fun
Some burglar, hon,
should bust in on us two,
As I’m a saint,
I b’lieve I’d faint,
Now tell me Rufus what you’d do.
Sh! sh! I hear a noise
Who can that person be?”
Rufe said, “I don’t know who it is,
And won’t wait here to see.”
If he comes in,
I’m going out, I’m going out,
It may be the window, and it may be the door,
But I’m going out, and what is more,
If he comes in, no matter when it be;
That rat hole there
beneath your chair
Will be plenty big enough for me.
If he comes in,
I’m going out, I’m going out,
It may be the window, and it may be the door,
But I’m going out, and what is more,
If he comes in, no matter when it be;
If the door is blocked,
That hole in the lock
Will be plenty big enough for me.

Down among the sugar cane
Down in Lou’sianna, where the sugarcane grows,
Oh, Oh, my!
Lives Miss Susiana, she’s the sweetest girl I know’s,
Oh, Oh, my!
When my work is over ’mongst the sugar cane,
To her home I go just at the bend of the lane;
’Neath her cabin window I am singing this refrain,
Oh, Oh, my!
Can’t you see the night ’am falling?
Whippoorwill am singing low?
Don’t you hear the crickets calling?
Calling you and me to go?
Susie, don’t you keep me waiting;
If you do ’twill cause me pain.
The moon am shining, and my heart am pining,
Meet me down among the sugar cane.
Can’t you see the night ’am falling?
Whippoorwill am singing low?
Don’t you hear the crickets calling?
Calling you and me to go?
Susie, don’t you keep me waiting;
If you do ’twill cause me pain.
The moon am shining, and my heart am pining,
Meet me down among the sugar cane.
’Taint no use a talking, there will be a wedding soon,
Oh, Oh, my!
Met her last December and we’re goin’ to wed in June,
Oh, Oh, my!
Susiana’s goin’ to be my blushing bride,
I can see myself astanding close by her side:
’Deed I’ll be a happy person when the knot am tied,
Oh, Oh, my!
Can’t you see the night ’am falling?
Whippoorwill am singing low?
Don’t you hear the crickets calling?
Calling you and me to go?
Susie, don’t you keep me waiting;
If you do ’twill cause me pain.
The moon am shining, and my heart am pining,
Meet me down among the sugar cane.
Can’t you see the night ’am falling?
Whippoorwill am singing low?
Don’t you hear the crickets calling?
Calling you and me to go?

Meet me down among the sugar cane.
