Circus Day In Dixie
Come to town, oh honey, come to town,
Have you forgotten that it’s Circus day in Dixie?
Let’s go down, we’d better hurry down
Where the crowd is cheerin’ that parade is nearin’.
Hear the music sweet!
That’s for the dancers who don’t move their feet.
Gee! there’s goin’ to be lots of things I’m just dying to see!
Circus day in Dixie,
Circus day in Dixie,
Always is a holiday (Come along, come along)
You better hurry, honey, the parade is comin’
Led by the leader man,
Don’t he look mighty grand!
See the funny lion, seems as if he’s tryin’
To keep time with the rag time band. (Set the bear over there)
Here come the clowns who wear the funniest clothes
There’s one who looks just like my Old Uncle Mose!
And see the cunnin’ little monkeys ridin’ on the donkeys
At the Circus down in Dixie land.
First let’s see the big menagerie,
Follow the crowd this way to see the main attraction.
Step right in, they’re ready to begin;
Gee! I’m all excited, glad I’ve been invited.
Oh! before we go
We’ve got to see that Turkish dancin’ show
Ev’ry body’s here? Circus day only comes once a year!

I Think We’ve Got Another Washington (Wilson Is His Name)
When Yankee Doodle came to town.
He brought a man of great renown
and called him Georgie Washington.
In history I’m told.
He prove a hero bold
By wining victory’s untold
Conditions are about the same today.
And I’m mighty proud to say.
I think we’ve got another Washington,
Some one whos just as good as he can be,
He’s called the man of Peace no matter where he goes
He’s just the one for me
It takes a little time for him to make up his mind,
But he gets there just the same,
I think we’ve got another Washington,
And Wilson is his name.
I think we’ve got another Washington,
Some one whos just as good as he can be,
He’s called the man of Peace no matter where he goes
He’s just the one for me
It takes a little time for him to make up his mind,
But he gets there just the same,
I think we’ve got another Washington,
And Wilson is his name.
I can’t for get George Washington
The things that he has said and done
have all gone down in history.
And how they treated him
With cheers they greeted him
It must of been a sight to see
I must admit that was sometime ago.
But I want you all to know.
I think we’ve got another Washington,
Some one whos just as good as he can be,
He’s called the man of Peace no matter where he goes
He’s just the one for me
It takes a little time for him to make up his mind,
But he gets there just the same,

Araby
Tonight I’m dreaming of Araby,
That’s where my dreams seem to carry me;
Where ev’rything is oriental;
And ev’ryone is sentimental.
There in the shade of the shel’ring palms
I met a maiden fair;
I long to hold her gently in my arms.
Oh, how I wish I were there!
Araby,
when shades of night appear I seem to hear you calling;
Araby,
You seem to beckon, and I reckon I’ll be hurrying back again.
Seems to me,
a maiden’s face appears, I see her tears are falling,
falling, because I left her there.
That’s why I long to be
where all those happy faces
wait for me
beside the fair oasis.
Soon you’ll see,
within a Caravan, an arab-man will take me
over the desert back to Araby.
Araby,
when shades of night appear I seem to hear you calling;
Araby,
You seem to beckon, and I reckon I’ll be hurrying back again.
Seems to me,
a maiden’s face appears, I see her tears are falling,
falling, because I left her there.
That’s why I long to be
where all those happy faces
wait for me
beside the fair oasis.
Soon you’ll see,
within a Caravan, an arab-man will take me
over the desert back to Araby.
Someday you’ll find me in Araby,
Where someone’s waiting to marry me;
I can’t forget the day we parted;
She said, I left her broken hearted,
I helped her on to a camel’s back.
Before she rode away,
She made me promise that I would come back;
I’ll keep my promise some day.
Araby,
when shades of night appear I seem to hear you calling;
Araby,
You seem to beckon, and I reckon I’ll be hurrying back again.
Seems to me,
a maiden’s face appears, I see her tears are falling,
falling, because I left her there.
That’s why I long to be
where all those happy faces
wait for me
beside the fair oasis.
Soon you’ll see,
within a Caravan, an arab-man will take me
over the desert back to Araby.
Araby,
when shades of night appear I seem to hear you calling;
Araby,
You seem to beckon, and I reckon I’ll be hurrying back again.
Seems to me,
a maiden’s face appears, I see her tears are falling,
falling, because I left her there.
That’s why I long to be

Cradle Song
Tears must fall,
Eyes must weep!
While my song I sing,
Little one, Sleep!
You and I are all alone,
I have only you,
Father’s love you never have known,
Mother must love for two.
Father heard his country’s call,
Heard the stern command:
Soldiers brave must fight and fall
For their native land.
They must leave their loved ones all
In the Saviour’s hand.
Sleep, darling sleep!
Father lies upon the plain
He is sleeping too.
Mother’s heart must bear the pain,
Heaven has sent her YOU.
Over your bed a snow-white dove
Watches the long night through,
Brought me a message of hope and love
From the starry blue,
That some day in heaven above
He will meet us two.
Eyes must weep
While my song I sing,
Little one rest and sleep.

Go To Sleep, My Dusky Baby
Go to sleep, my dusky baby,
Sleep, an’ dream of angels, maybe,
’Till yo’ mammy rests a little while.
Shut yo’ eyes while I am singin’,
An’ the hummin’ bees are wingin’,
Makin’ honey for my chile.
There on the river,
Where herons hover,
Hyacynths sweet are floatin’ by,
An’ white orange flowers,
(Wish they were ours,)
Fill the air with sweetes’ perfume for my dear one.
Go to sleep, my dusky baby,
Sleep, an’ dream of angels, maybe,
’Till yo’ mammy rests a little while.
Shut yo’ eyes while I am singin’
An’ the hummin’ bees are wingin’,
Makin’ honey for my darlin’ chile.
Picaninny, sleep,
For the shadows gather,
Little birds must rest
When the night is near.
Mammy watch will keep,
An’ the bad man cannot get yo’,
Mammy holds yo’ close,
Don’t yo’ hab no fear.
Nightingales will soon in the orange grove be singin’,
Fireflies will flash an’ the frogs will drone.
Now the moon is risin’ o'er the cypress in the meadow,
Sleep, my little babe, my chile, my own!
Go to sleep, my dusky baby,
Sleep an’ dream of angels, maybe,
’Till yo’ mammy rests a little while.
Shut yo’ eyes while I am singin’,
An’ the hummin’ bees are wingin’,
Makin’ honey for my darlin’ chile.
There on the river,
Where herons hover,
Hyacynths sweet are floatin’ by,
An’ white orange flowers,
(Wish they were ours,)
Fill the air with sweetes’ perfume for my chile.
