Pretty Baby
You ask me why I’m always teasing you,
You hate to have me call you Pretty Baby;
I really thought that I was pleasing you,
For you’re just a baby to me.
Your cunning little dimples and your baby stare,
Your baby talk and baby walk and curly hair;
Your baby smile makes life worth while,
You’re just as sweet as you can be.
Ev’rybody loves a baby that’s why I’m in love with you,
Pretty Baby, Pretty Baby;
And I’d like to be your sister, brother, dad and mother too,
Pretty Baby, Pretty Baby.
Won’t you come and let me rock you in my cradle of love,
And we’ll cuddle all the time.
Oh! I want a Lovin’ Baby and it might as well be you,
Pretty baby of mine.
Ev’rybody loves a baby that’s why I’m in love with you,
Pretty Baby, Pretty Baby;
Your mother said you were the cutest kid;
No wonder, dearie, that I’m wild about you,
And all the cunning things you said and did.
Why, I love to fondly recall,
And just like Peter Pan, it seems you’ll always be
The same sweet, cunning, Little Baby dear to me.
And that is why I’m sure that I
Will always love you best of all.
Ev’rybody loves a baby that’s why I’m in love with you,
Pretty Baby, Pretty Baby;
Ev’rybody loves a baby that’s why I’m in love with you,
Pretty Baby, Pretty Baby;

Brighten The Corner Where You Are
Do not wait until some deed of greatness you may do,
Do not wait to shed your light afar;
To the many duties ever near you now be true,
Brighten the corner where you are.
Brighten the corner where you are!
Brighten the corner where you are!
Someone far from harbor you may guide across the bar;
Brighten the corner where you are!
Just above are clouded skies that you may help to clear,
Let not narrow self your way debar;
Though into one heart alone may fall your song of cheer,
Brighten the corner where you are.
Brighten the corner where you are!
Brighten the corner where you are!
Someone far from harbor you may guide across the bar;
Brighten the corner where you are!
Here for all your talent you may surely find a need,
Here reflect the bright and Morning Star;
Even from your humble hand the Bread of Life may feed,
Brighten the corner where you are.
Brighten the corner where you are!
Brighten the corner where you are!
Someone far from harbor you may guide across the bar;
Brighten the corner where you are!

Kitty The Telephone Girl
Tommy met Kitty in the subway one day,
Vow’d she was sweeter than the flowers in May,
He soon found out that pretty Kitty
Every day went to the City.
She was engag’d to answer telephone calls.
And, when rung up one day,
As she cried, “Hello!” thro’ the telephone,
She heard her new boy say,
“Kitty, Kitty, isn’t it a pity
In the City you wonk so hard!
With your one, two, three, four, five,
Or six, seven, eight, Gerrard
Kitty, Kitty, isn’t it a pity
That you’re wasting so much time
With your lips close to the telephone
When they might be close to mine?”
“Kitty, Kitty, isn’t it a pity
In the City you wonk so hard!
With your one, two, three, four, five,
Or six, seven, eight, Gerrard
Kitty, Kitty, isn’t it a pity
That you’re wasting so much time
With your lips close to the telephone
When they might be close to mine?”
Kitty said, “ You are far too forward, I fear.
You must remember I’m on business here.
And I’m afraid your conversation
Sounds like a naughty boy’s flirtation.
People will think that we are too long engag’d.”
“How can that be?” said he:
“I’m not engag’d, dear, to anyone,
But I should like to be.
“Kitty, Kitty, isn’t it a pity
In the City you wonk so hard!
With your one, two, three, four, five,
Or six, seven, eight, Gerrard
Kitty, Kitty, isn’t it a pity
That you’re wasting so much time
With your lips close to the telephone
When they might be close to mine?”
“Kitty, Kitty, isn’t it a pity
In the City you wonk so hard!
With your one, two, three, four, five,
Or six, seven, eight, Gerrard
Kitty, Kitty, isn’t it a pity
That you’re wasting so much time
With your lips close to the telephone
When they might be close to mine?”
“If any time you wish to say anything,”
Kitty said, “don’t forget to give me a ring.”
Tommy said, “Dear, I need not mention
That all along was my intention.
Meet me tonight, and I will give you the ring,
And I’ll make you my wife,
Then we can ‘ring off’ the telephone,
And both ‘ring on’ for life.
“Kitty, Kitty, isn’t it a pity
In the City you wonk so hard!
With your one, two, three, four, five,
Or six, seven, eight, Gerrard
Kitty, Kitty, isn’t it a pity
That you’re wasting so much time
With your lips close to the telephone
When they might be close to mine?”
“Kitty, Kitty, isn’t it a pity
In the City you wonk so hard!
With your one, two, three, four, five,
Or six, seven, eight, Gerrard
Kitty, Kitty, isn’t it a pity
That you’re wasting so much time
With your lips close to the telephone

Duett: Endlich, Endlich’ Hab’ Ich Dich
Sari:
Endlich, endlich’ hab ich dich,
Halt’ mich, Liebster, halte mich!
Küsse meinen Mund,
Bitte, küss’ ihn wund…
Küsse mein armes, liebkrankes Herz gesund!
Gaston:
Lehn’ dein süsses Köpfchen an,
Daß ich’s besser fassen kann.
Halte dich im Arm,
Halt’ dich fest und warm.
Sari:
Bin in deinem Bann,
Geliebter Mann!
Beide:
Ins Himmelreich hinein!
Du mußt mein und ich muß dein
Im Tanz der Liebe sein!
Sich, die Nacht, sie lockt und lacht,
Umschmeichelt uns so weich!
Komm mit mir und tanz’ mit mir
Ins Himmelreich!
Gaston:
Schuh’ und Strümpf’ verlieren mir
Auf dem Weg zur Himmelstür!
Sari:
Ins Himmelreich hinein!
Du mußt mein und ich muß dein
Im Tanz der Liebe sein!
Sich, die Nacht, sie lockt und lacht,
Umschmeichelt uns so weich!
Komm mit mir und tanz’ mit mir
Ins Himmelreich!

Love’s Own Sweet Song
In the toils of love I’m caught,
Happiness I have been taught,
I know not the bliss,
Of a lover’s kiss;
I had never dreamed there was a joy like this,
Dear one I feel just the same,
Without you my life is tame,
All I want is you,
No one else will do,
Love and love alone is all to blame.
Oh let us come and dance with joy
Since love and life are ours,
For youth is strong and blood grows warm
Beneath the scent of flow’rs
Music light and laughter bright shall carry us along
Singing with our hearts on fire loves own sweet song.
Oh let us come and dance with joy
Since love and life are ours,
For youth is strong and blood grows warm
Beneath the scent of flow’rs
Music light and laughter bright shall carry us along
Singing with our hearts on fire loves own sweet song.
Love to us has lent his wings,
To the waltz what joys he brings,
Here and there we go,
Gliding to and fro,
Like a bit of thistledown when breezes blow,
Always shall we dance like this,
Always shall we know such bliss,
Down through life I’ll glide,
Ever at your side,
You shall be my bride what e’er betide.
