On, Wisconsin!

On, Wisconsin! On, Wisconsin!
Grand old badger state!
We, thy loyal sons and daughters,
Hail thee, good and great.

On, Wisconsin! On, Wisconsin!
Champion of the right,
“Forward”, our motto
God will give thee might!”

Never Mind

‘So he wants you to forget him,’ says a grey haired man in tears
As he reads his daughter’s letter still a girl of tender years
‘He has left you for another who has crept into his heart
Forget him and forgive him ’twould be better so to part’
Then to his breast he takes her head as tenderly to her he said,

Though your heart may ache awhile, never mind
Though your face may lose it’s smile, never mind
For there’s sunshine after rain, and then gladness follows pain
You’ll be happy once again, never mind.’

‘In his love he may have faltered as his letter seems to say
There will be a bright tomorrow, darkest clouds will fly away
Time will be the wonder worker, though it's hard I know to part
He may tire of his new love and creep back into your heart
Love like pride must have it’s fall, true love will conquer after all.

Though your heart may ache awhile, never mind
Though your face may lose it’s smile, never mind
For there’s sunshine after rain, and then gladness follows pain
You’ll be happy once again, never mind.’

(If The Sergeant Steals Your Rum)」(http://yogaku-manyoshu.blog.jp/archives/22716657.html)の元歌です。

’twould:it would。

The Seaside Sultan

There’s a King who reigns by the gay sea-shore,
And a mighty King is he!
In the season, by the sea
You’re sure to find him strolling,
He’s a flannell’d fool,
From an office stool,
Who should be at school,
Instead of showing off his graces.
With his Panama,
And with his cheap cigar,
Down by the sea he spends his days,
That’s all he’s got to spend.
He’s always on the frivol with a frock or frill!
He’s guaranteed to make the ladies’ hearts stand still!

He is the seaside Sultan!
He’s the Monarch of the pier!
At the promenade he’s Shah!
At  the beach he is the Czar!
All the ladies in his company will lurk!
It’s an awful blow
When he’s got to go
Back to work!

He is the seaside Sultan!
He’s the Monarch of the pier!
At the promenade he’s Shah!
At  the beach he is the Czar!
All the ladies in his company will lurk!
It’s an awful blow
When he’s got to go
Back to work!

There’s a King who reigns by the gay sea-shore,
And a mighty King is he!
And each Duchess he will see
He’s sure to leave his heart to.
He will promenade,
Will this picture-card!
With all the girls he’s starred!
His style and smile are so alluring!
For he holds his sway
All through his holiday,
The merry little fortnight that he
spends down by the sea.
He’s “chummy” with the very best of royalty,
Who’re royal only once a year, the same as he.

He will talk, so pompously,
Of his motors and his racers,
He will say, “What, what!
You ought to see my yacht!
I’m sure to win that “Pot!”
I don’t care that! for Tommy Lipton.
Then he’ll, may be, find
That there’s a crowd behind
That is staring at an accident
That’s happen’d his cheap pants.
“What are the wild waves saying?” I have heard folks shout,
They never get a chance to speak while he’s about.

Underneath The Tango Moon

Oh! the tango craze
In these tango days
Has got ev’rybody doing tango sways,
It even got ’way down, to old jungle town,
In jungle land,
And
When the moon comes out
All the monks about,
Start in a-shouting the old tango shout:
“Dance with me!
One! two! three!
For there’s old tango moon:”

Underneath the tango moon,
That ’Rang-ou-tango tune,
Sets the chimpanzees up in the trees a-wobblin’,
Ev’ry monkey grabs a mate,
Oh! but he thinks it’s great to go a-dippin’, skippin’, trippin’,
And when King Baboon says to his chicken monk:
“Oh! baby, I’d like to put my shoes in your trunk!”
They will blame a wedding soon,
On that tango tune,
Beneath the tango moon.

Underneath the tango moon,
That ’Rang-ou-tango tune,
Sets the chimpanzees up in the trees a-wobblin’,
Ev’ry monkey grabs a mate,
Oh! but he thinks it’s great to go a-dippin’, skippin’, trippin’,
And when King Baboon says to his chicken monk:
“Oh! baby, I’d like to put my shoes in your trunk!”
They will blame a wedding soon,
On that tango tune,
Beneath the tango moon.

There’s no turkey trots
On those tango spots,
For turkeys never get along with Hottentots,
They’d be eaten cold, by those big chiefs bold,
In jungle land,
And
If they missed their chance
For that tango prance,
In that old jungle pawn, they’d sell their pants,
To get dough,
So they’d go
To dance ’neath tango moon.

Underneath the tango moon,
That ’Rang-ou-tango tune,
Sets the chimpanzees up in the trees a-wobblin’,
Ev’ry monkey grabs a mate,
Oh! but he thinks it’s great to go a-dippin’, skippin’, trippin’,
And when King Baboon says to his chicken monk:
“Oh! baby, I’d like to put my shoes in your trunk!”
They will blame a wedding soon,
On that tango tune,
Beneath the tango moon.

The Pullman Porters On Parade

Here they come down the street,
See them comin’,
Hear the drums how they beat,
Hear the drummin’
oh, my one little Hon’ better run to the fun,
They’re parading,
hear the yell from the boys!
Honey, listen! can’t you tell by the noise,
That we’re missing all the fun?
come and see the big parade.
My honey

Just see those Pullman porters,
Dolled up with perfumed waters,
Bought by their dimes and quarters;
Here they come, here they come, here they come,
Just see those starched-up collars,
Hear how that captain hollers,
Keep time keep time,
It’s worth a thousand dollars,
To see those tip collectors,
Those upper-berth inspectors,
Those Pullman porters on parade.

Look at flatfooted Mose,
See him juggling
His hat as he goes,
See the struggling
of bowlegged Joe, don’t he go rather slow?
Watch him stepping
on the ground like a hen!
All in clover, see those round-shouldered men,
Steppin’ over, oh my! Hon,
that’s what I call some parade.
My honey

Just see those Pullman porters,
Dolled up with perfumed waters,
Bought by their dimes and quarters;
Here they come, here they come, here they come,
Just see those starched-up collars,
Hear how that captain hollers,
Keep time keep time,
It’s worth a thousand dollars,
To see those tip collectors,
Those upper-berth inspectors,
Those Pullman porters on parade.
