A Little Of What You Fancy Does You Good

I never was a one to go and stint myself,
If I likes a thing I likes it and that’s enough!
But there’s lots of people say that if you likes a thing a lot,
It’ll grow on ya and all that sort of stuff!
So I likes me drop o’ stout as well as anyone,
But stout you know’s supposed to make you fat!
Ah, and there’s many a lah-de-dah-de madam wouldn’t dare to touch it,
’Cause it might spoil her figure, the silly cat!

Now I always hold with having it if you fancy it,
If you fancy it, that’s understood!
And suppose it makes you fat,
I don’t worry over that,
’Cause a little o’ what you fancy does you good!

I always like to take a little ’oliday,
And we always has one, my old man and me.
But the last time that we ’ad one, he sprung up a new idea,
When he saw the ladies bathin’ in the sea.
He said what a man requires was change of everything,
Ah, and he ought to take his ’olidays alone!
You know, away from everyday affairs, so I says, “Very likely,
Well if you’d like a little fortnight on your own,”

“I always hold with havin’ it if you fancy it,
If you fancy it, that’s understood!
But if that’s your bloomin’ game,
I intend to do the same,
’Cause a little o’ what you fancy does you good!

I ’ad to catch a special train the other day,
Ah, and I very nearly lost it I declare!
But the guard said, “Come on, jump in missus!”, and he bunged me in the first,
And I saw a lovin’ couple sittin’ there.
Oh, I could see the ’oneymoon was stamped all over them,
And I was sorry for the lady and the gent,
So I said, “Go on, excuse me if you want to have a cuddle,
’Ave a cuddle ’cause I’m going to have a nap”.

And I always hold with havin’ it if you fancy it,
If you fancy it, that’s understood!
And while you young couple spoon,
I’ll dream of my ’oneymoon,
’Cause a little o’ what you fancy do’s you good!

And I always hold with havin’ it if you fancy it,
Get on with it, don’t waste no time!
And while you young couple spoon,
I’ll be at my ’oneymoon,
’Cause a little o' what you fancy does you good!

Every Little Movement

Up to the West End, right in the Best End,
Straight from the country came Miss Maudie Brown.
Father a curate, couldn’t endure it —
That’s why the ladies are residing in town.
Twelve months ago her modest self felt quite sublime
To sit on a fellow’s knee who’s been all in the grime,
And if you should want a kiss,
She’d droop her eyes like this,
But now she droops them just one at a time.

And every little movement has a meaning of its own.
Every little movement tells a tale.
When she walks in dainty Hobble
At the back round here,
There’s a kind of wibble-wobble,
And she glides like this.
Then the Johnnies follow in her trail,
But when she turns her head like so,
Something’s doing, don’t you know.
Every little movement tells a tale.

Down by the blue sea, cute as she could be,
Maudie would go for her dip every day.
Maudie had an eye for the boys — oh my!
And it happened that Reggie was passing that way.
When Reggie saw her, he fell in quite a trance —
He too is going bathing.
Said he, “Now here’s a chance.”
She didn’t smile or frown —
Just threw her signal down,
Then slyly shrugged her shoulders with a glance.

And every little movement has a meaning of its own.
Every little movement tells a tale.
When she dashed into the ocean,
Reggie kept close by for to know her he had a notion.
Maudie tried to swim.
“Oh, I’m here,” said Reggie, “if you fail.”
And in less than half a wink,
Maudie dear commenced to sink.
Every little movement tells a tale.

Congratulations, such celebrations —
Bertie and Gertie have just tied the knot.
Folks at the party — all gay and hearty!
And notice the bridegroom looks anxious, eh, what?
When friends and relatives depart their different ways,
Alone with the girlie of his heart — no one to gaze.
He turns the lights down low,
She looked at him like so,
Then shyly with her wedding ring she plays.

And every little movement has a meaning of its own.
Every little movement tells a tale.
When alone no word they utter,
But when midnight chimed,
Then their hearts begin to flutter,
And she yawned like this
And stretches out her arm so frail,
And the hubby full of love
Looks at her and points above.
Every little movement tells a tale.

That’s How The Little Girl Got On

A clever young lady, a charming Miss Sadie
Her way to town one morning she was taking
But she didn’ try for the paths that were high, for
She started in a humble way, dress making
The firm that engaged her
Just like a bird they chained her
All day the little darling was on show
Her employers beamed upon her
And tried all their dresses on her
For she took them to a fancy show...

So clever, so clever
Everyone said ‘Did you ever’
She was as lithesome as a swan
She made all the Jonnies gape
They got mashed upon her shape
And that’s how the little girl got on.

The other young ladies were jealous of Sadie’s
Advancement through the medium of her figure
Her past life they raked up, and touched up, and faked up
And then they threw it at her with a snigger
Ha! - Ha! - Ha!
With much satisfaction
They said her low extraction
Contaminated all the others there
But the tricky little Sadie
Tried on for a titled lady
She said ‘It isn’t what I was - It’s what I wear’
Ha! - Ha! - Ha!

So clever, so clever
Everyone said ‘Did you ever’
She was as graceful as a swan
And when they kicked her - jealous cats
All the darling said was ‘rats’
And that’s how the little girl got on.
